Publication Ethics
JADEN is a peer-reviewed journal committed to maintaining integrity, transparency, and responsible research communication. This statement follows the COPE Best Practice Guidelines and applies to all parties involved: authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.
1. General Principles
- Publishing in JADEN contributes to the global knowledge in algorithmic digital engineering.
- Peer review ensures scientific quality and reflects the credibility of authors and institutions.
- All parties must uphold ethical standards to preserve academic integrity and digital synergy.
2. Duties of Editors
- Publication Decisions
Editors decide which manuscripts to publish based on validity, originality, and relevance. - Fair Play
Manuscripts are evaluated on content only, without discrimination. - Confidentiality
Editors must not disclose information about a submitted manuscript. - Disclosure & Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials may not be used by editors for personal research. - Misconduct Handling:
Editors follow COPE procedures for suspected ethical violations.
3. Duties of Reviewers
- Contribution to Decisions
Peer review assists editorial decisions and helps authors improve manuscripts. - Promptness
Reviewers who cannot complete timely reviews must inform editors. - Confidentiality
Manuscripts under review are treated as confidential documents. - Objectivity
Reviews must be impartial, constructive, and supported by arguments. - Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers identify missing references and potential overlaps.
- Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers decline reviews when conflicts exist (financial, collaborative, competitive).
4. Duties of Authors
- Reporting Standards
Authors must present accurate and transparent accounts of their work. - Data Access & Retention
Authors should provide raw data if requested and retain it post-publication. - Originality & Plagiarism
Submissions must be original; use of others’ work must be cited properly. - Multiple/Concurrent Publication
Authors must not submit the same manuscript to multiple journals. - Acknowledgment of Sources
Proper citation of others’ work is mandatory. - Authorship
Only those who contributed significantly should be listed as authors; all co-authors must approve the final version. - Disclosure of Conflicts
All financial or substantive conflicts of interest must be declared. - Errors in Published Works
Authors must promptly notify editors of significant errors for correction or retraction.
5. Duties of the Publisher
- Ensure editorial independence and integrity of publication.
- Support editors and reviewers in maintaining quality standards.
- Handle misconduct cases following COPE guidelines.
- Provide mechanisms for corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern.
6. Withdrawal and Retraction Policy
- Author-Initiated Withdrawal:
- Authors may withdraw manuscripts only before acceptance.
- If after peer review, a written explanation signed by all authors is required.
- Unethical withdrawal after acceptance may result in sanctions (e.g., ban on future submissions).
- Editor/Publisher-Initiated Retraction:
- Articles may be retracted due to plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate publication, serious methodological errors, or undisclosed conflicts of interest.
- Retracted articles remain accessible in the archive but clearly marked as “Retracted.”
- Corrections and Expressions of Concern:
- Minor errors are corrected with errata or corrigenda.
- If misconduct is suspected but under investigation, an expression of concern may be published.
